A Scanner Darkly

Richard Linklater does a better job with this film than he did with Waking Life (both films use rotoscoping), but the story could have been much tighter. Perhaps he was trying to make the audience experience the characters’ drug-induced disorientation, but if so it makes for less enjoyable viewing. Robert Downey Jr was particularly good (and suited to the part) and the scenes with his and Woody Harrelson’s character are hilarious.
